Because of the lift's sturdy construction, its platform can be covered with material matching the surrounding surface - concrete, asphalt, bricks or paving stone - further enhancing the lift's appearance. The lift can be adapted to blend with many architectural styles, allowing one to balance the needs for handicapped access with historic preservation. It is appropriate for retrofit or new construction. The Everhard Lift is easy to operate either from the lift or from either call station. There are few moving parts, so the cost of maintenance is low. The lift sits in a sturdy concrete pit that is kept dry with a sump pump or natural drain.
